There is nothing like an early morning ride on the beach to get your blood flowing and your spirit soaring.

Riding Your Own Horse

Several areas of Florida offer horseback riding on the beach for those who have their own horses and want to enjoy the surf. St. Augustine on Florida's northeast coast allows Florida beach riding with advance permit (No fee). A training program informing horse riders about the beach's protected species is required. Visit the St. Augustine website for permits.

Amelia Island in Northeast Florida

For those who want to go horseback riding on the beach with horses and guide provided, consider the tours offered by Kelly Seahorse Ranch on Amelia Island, near Jacksonville. You will also find Happy Trails Walkers offering beach rides and trail rides on the beautiful shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Amelia Island is a fantastic place to visit for its beach town atmosphere and its proximity to southern states.

Palm Coast, Florida

Equestian Aventures Our beach rides take place in Palm Coast, FL on one of Flagler County’s most beautiful beaches, 45 minutes north of Daytona Beach and 45 minutes south of St. Augustine. Rides are scheduled according to low tide. $135 per person (Credit card fees are applied). We take a minimum of 2 riders and a maximum of 5-6 riders on each ride. Reservations are necessary as we trailer the horses 45 minutes to meet our riders at the beach

Hutchinson Island, Florida

Further down the coast from Palm Coast is Fredric Douglas Memorial Park in Fort Pierce offering horseback riding on the beach with a permit. Contact St. Lucie County Parks Department at 772-462-1692 for more information.

On the west coast of Florida, Bradenton's Palma Sola Causeway is a favorite for equestrians seeking Florida beach riding fun. Horse surfers can trailer in their own horses or take a beach ride or trail ride with C Ponies of Bradenton. No permits required.

Beach Horseback Riding in the Florida Panhandle

In Port St. Joe in the Florida Panhandle, also a short drive from many areas of the southeast, the Two Bit Stable offers horseback riding on the beach seven days a week. The Gulf of Mexico provides a placid backdrop for your memorable adventure. Nearby, in Cape San Blas is Broke-a-Toe offering family oriented beach horseback rides at a walking pace. Reservations required.
